We understand and are aware of the fact that above all- safety must be the most important factor when designing our programs. With this in mind, we have incorporated many safeguards in our selection process for Mentors and Mentees. Adults looking to serve as Mentors must complete a criminal background check, including the vulnerable sector, as well as provide character references. This enables us to take a holistic view of applicants and keep our programs safe.

Although volunteering your time as a Mentor or Mentee is the best way to help our organization, there are numerous ways to help us! We accept donations on our website, which we use to fund the expansion of our organization. Furthermore, you can also sign up as an Ambassador to aid in our development by sharing our program. Regardless of how you choose to help, we thank you for your interest in our organization.

Given today's heath concerns, we are trying our best to adapt our practices in order to be as safe as possible. Some of the precautions we take include deferring sessions online when possible, and we ask that all members wear Personal Protective Equipment when face-to-face sessions occur.

Because of the many variables involved in this process, such as the size of our candidate pool at any given moment, it is difficult to accurately estimate how long it will take for us to pair you with a suitable Mentor/Mentee. Rest assured, however, that we will try our best to work in haste, while still finding you a Mentor/Mentee that you will be able to form a powerful, lifelong bond with.

Our application package allows us to get a clear insight into the character of those who apply. This enables us to match Mentors and Mentees based on their likes, dislikes, their past, and their hopes for the future. We consider many factors in the pairing process, and both the Mentor and the Mentee have the choice of selecting another candidate if they do not like the candidate that we selected.

When trying to match our applicants, we always take into account numerous factors to try and find someone who we believe will be able to positively impact your life. When we find this person, whether they be a Mentor or Mentee, we email you a little bit about them, such as their career/education, likes, dislikes, and some other information that enables you to be a part of the decision making the process. If you don’t think that they would be a good fit for you, simply let us know by email and we will continue our search to find the perfect Mentee/Mentor for you.

As a growing Non-Profit in a continuously-changing sector, we currently aim to develop and hone our services in the local Metro-Vancouver area.

When creating our application packages, we tried to make them as concise as possible, while still valuing safety. If you’re interested in applying to become a Mentee or Mentor, we kindly ask that you simply complete the application package which you can download from our website. Once it’s complete, send us the completed version at legacygrandparents@gmail.ca, where we will then review your information. If we think that you’d be a good fit for our organization, we’ll invite you to an orientation session, as well as a training session. Once that is complete, we will start looking for a Mentee or Mentor who we believe would be a good influence on you.
